Paul L. Morris Jr. Obituary

Blanchard Twp., Maine – Paul passed away in Blanchard Township, ME, on June 12, 2025. He was born in Monroe, LA, and lived in all forty-eight states and Alaska, as well as Europe. Growing up as an Air Force brat he attended third grade in five different places. He learned to make friends and fit-in very easily. It was a skill that served him well in life.

Paul was a big man in stature and character. He said what he meant and he meant what he said. A promise and his friendships were sacred to him.

He was a true outdoor enthusiast, a licensed Maine Guide, and he never went half-way at anything – fishing, hunting, boating, archery, and his home. The nickname of Moose, given to him as a child, fit him well. Those of you who knew him, will remember him for his quick wit.

A proud veteran, Paul didn’t wear his military history on his sleeve, but as a Green Beret who served two tours in the Vietnam War; his heroism was included in several books that were written after the information about the conflict was declassified.

After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Paul earned his living as a union IronWorker, Boston Local # 7, a job that took him all over the U.S. He was a 1964 graduate of Stoughton, MA, high school, and played varsity football. He went on to play football for Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA, before enlisting in the Army.

Paul waged a valiant struggle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home. He will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his wife, Leila; and his brother, Kenneth. Paul was predeceased by his father, PLM Sr.; his mother, Celia (Lazdin); and his brother, Timothy.

An active member of the American Legion, a service will be held at the Monson Post of the American Legion, # 116 located at: 159 No. Guilford Rd., Monson, ME, on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m. Friends and family are welcome.
