Anglers needed October 24 & 25th Fishability study on the Penobscot River

Please contact Charlie “Chip” Spies if you can join angler volunteers as participants in a fishability/wadability study being conducted on a 4.5 mile reach of the river below Stone Dam.  The purpose is to determine general characteristics for fishing the area under multiple stream flows.  Stakeholders, including Trout Unlimited, requested an angling study in the West Branch of the Penobscot  as part of the Penobscot Mills Project relicensing process.

FERC approved the study and Brandon Kulik, Senior Fisheries Scientist for Kleinschmidt are the consultants performing this work on behalf of Brookfield Renewable, the dam owners. We have 10 volunteers now confirmed, but more would be better. If you have any further questions or can help please contact Charlie “Chip” Spies at chipspies@gmail.com ASAP.
