Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission to Hold Indigenous Peoples’ Day Event Announcing Audiobook Version of Sea Run

Audiobook’s Wabanaki Voices Bring Threatened Lifeways, Fisheries Story to Life

Veazie, Maine – The Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission (MITSC) will hold a news conference/public event on Monday, 10/13, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, 10 am, at the Veazie Salmon Club to announce and to celebrate the audiobook launch of SEA RUN, A Study Regarding the Impact of Maine Policies on the Quality and Quantity of Traditional Tribal Fish Stocks and Sustenance Practices. Sea Run examines the factors that have limited and continue to block tribal peoples’ access to the fisheries and contributed to the severe decline in the fisheries themselves, and offers recommendations for their revitalization. The audiobook, narrated by Wabanaki citizens, brings the story to life. Attend this important event to hear from Chief Kirk Francis of the Penobscot Nation, co-author Judd Esty-Kendall, and be among the first people to experience the audiobook.
